The true joy of giving — India celebrates “Daan Utsav”
“An honest act of giving is a gift in itself”. While that is true, Fourth Ambit presents the “All Indian Daan Utsav Campaign” for colleges in India in an effort to recognize the contributions of our students, faculty and alumni
“I learned two things about myself during this Daan Utsav — First one is that I am incredibly lucky and lead a very privileged life and second is that it would be extremely selfish not to think about the less fortunate around me as I go forward in life”, says a student from a government college in Kerala when asked about his experience as he prepares for Daan Utsav.
As partner promoters of Daan Utsav, what we at Fourth Ambit have realised is that it is not just the recipient who benefits but the real joy sits with the one who gives.
While we all love receiving gifts, if we look closely at ourselves we will see that an honest act of giving — giving because we want to , because we know they need it and deserve it brings with it a kind of joy that lasts more than a moment and brings a smile on our face- a special joy that is all our own.
It is this joy that volunteers of Daan Utsav will vouch for.
From CEOs to department heads, from teachers to school students, from retired professionals to auto drivers, the nation joins its hands together to celebrate the spirit Daan Utsav from Oct 2 2017 to Oct 8 2017.
Fourth Ambit has partnered with Daan Utsav to create awareness and increase the reach to our partner colleges. While the joy of giving is reward in itself, we decided to recognize some of the outstanding efforts through the following competitions:
- Social Entrepreneurship Challenge
- Film Making Contest
- Recipe Contest
1. Social Entrepreneurship Challenge
Plan and execute an event or an initiative that will benefit a large number of people who are in need. More than the complexity of the task, the focus should be on the impact you create.
The nature of tasks can vary from organizing a cleanup drive of the beach, providing a sumptuous meal for the homeless.
We require you to make a video showcasing your initiatives which should not exceed 3 minutes. For more details, click here.

2. Film Making Contest
We are Indians and we love movies. The vast majority of us would have nurtured dreams of associating with this magical land at some stage in our lives. Well, here is an opportunity to give wings to those dreams. Create a video that celebrates the spirit of Daan Utsav.
While this may not get you launched by KJo, you will definitely get a chance to shadow some industry experts at their place of work for a day!
